Chef's Table
Chef’s Table Udon Thani
Chef’s Table Udon Thani is one of the city’s most refined culinary addresses. This contemporary fine-dining restaurant offers an immersive gastronomic experience, designed as a true sensory journey where every dish tells a story and every plate becomes an artistic composition.
Set in an elegant, modern, and intimate space, Chef’s Table embraces a degustation-only approach, allowing guests to discover a carefully curated sequence of dishes crafted from fresh, local, and seasonal ingredients. The precision of the cooking, the subtle layering of flavors, and the strong aesthetic intent reflect a high level of culinary mastery, rarely matched in the region.
The experience is built around a direct connection between the chef and the guests. The chef’s table concept encourages exchange, discovery, and storytelling. Each dish is introduced and explained, each ingredient highlighted, creating an atmosphere that is at once convivial, educational, and exclusive. You don’t simply dine here—you take part in a staged gastronomic performance.
The menu evolves regularly, driven by the chef’s inspiration and seasonal availability, blending modern techniques, international influences, and Thai culinary roots. The result is a cuisine that is subtle, creative, and precisely balanced, appealing both to seasoned gourmets and curious diners seeking new culinary horizons.
In a city still largely anchored in traditional dining, Chef’s Table Udon Thani stands as a bold gastronomic benchmark—offering a sophisticated, contemporary alternative, firmly oriented toward excellence.

Woods and Hoods วู้ด แอนด์ ฮู้ด

Woods and Hoods
Woods and Hoods is a Japanese-style restaurant and international buffet in Udon Thani.
For those who love salmon, this is a real favorite spot. Guests who come here often highlight the freshness of the fish, especially the salmon, which is one of the signature items. The buffet is widely regarded as one of the most interesting and varied in Udon Thani Province, offering excellent value for the quality and selection.
The grilled and prepared fish dishes, including salmon with soy-based sauce, are particularly praised for their rich, delicate flavor. The overall experience is built around abundance and variety, but the seafood—especially the salmon—remains the star of the table.

UD Town Udon Thani Nignt market

Just beside Udon Thani railway station, you’ll find three night markets clustered around the intersection of Thongyai and Prajak Sillapakom roads. The Udon Thani night markets open daily from around 5:00 PM and become especially busy on weekends, when live bands perform at the large bar area in Centerpoint Market—the northern market zone on the eastern side of the station.
After sunset, these night markets become some of the most vibrant places in the city. Prices are low, including food and drinks, making it a popular spot for both locals and visitors to stroll, shop, and eat.
The market activity also spills out onto the surrounding streets, where the street stalls often offer the best deals and attract the biggest crowds.
Jobar Udon Thani

Set in a beautiful garden-style setting, this restaurant offers a relaxed atmosphere with sports shown on large silent screens, allowing guests to follow the action without disturbing the ambiance. The live music adds to the experience, although it can be a little loud at times.

Moo Kratha Udon Thani and Nong Khai

Mu Kratha: Thailand’s Favorite BBQ & Hot Pot Experience
Mu Kratha (also spelled Mookata), which literally means “pan pork,” is a uniquely Thai dining style that combines the best of Korean barbecue and Chinese hot pot in a delicious celebration of flavors, spices, and shared meals.
Thinly sliced meat—most commonly pork—is grilled on the domed center of the pan, while vegetables, seafood, mushrooms, noodles, and fish balls simmer in the flavorful broth that surrounds it, known locally as Thai suki. The pan sits over a traditional charcoal burner, giving the food a distinctive smoky aroma that is part of the experience.
Popular ingredients include:
- Pork
- Chicken
- Lamb and mutton
- Seafood
- Fresh vegetables
- Mushrooms
- Fish balls and other hot pot favorites
A traditional Mu Kratha meal is almost always accompanied by nam chim suki, a spicy and tangy dipping sauce that perfectly complements the grilled meats and simmered vegetables.
Before cooking begins, a small piece of pork fat is usually rubbed over the top of the dome and left to melt. This simple technique coats the surface with oil, preventing the food from sticking while adding extra flavor to everything cooked on the grill.
More than just a meal, Mu Kratha is a social experience, bringing family and friends together around the table to cook, share, and enjoy Thailand’s unique take on barbecue and hot pot.

Pimali Restaurant Nong Khai

Pimali Foundation – Hospitality Training Center
The Pimali Association (Switzerland) and the Pimali Foundation (Thailand) are dedicated to fighting the exploitation of underprivileged young people and reducing poverty in Thailand’s northeastern region. The project was born from the experience of Stéphanie des Arts-Loup, co-founder of Pimali, who volunteered in an orphanage in northeastern Thailand in 2009. There, she witnessed firsthand how difficult it was for orphans and disadvantaged youth to find their first job after completing compulsory education. Inspired by this reality, she created the Pimali project to offer them professional training and a pathway to a better future.
Located in Ban Kham Khae, just 22 km from Nong Khai Railway Station, the Pimali Foundation – Hospitality Training Center is much more than a restaurant and guesthouse. It is a place where young people receive high-quality training in hospitality, cooking, and customer service while gaining valuable real-world experience.
Visitors are welcomed into a peaceful setting surrounded by gardens and rice fields, with free private parking, a terrace, a restaurant, and a bar. Comfortable, air-conditioned rooms overlook the countryside and offer free Wi-Fi, making it an ideal place to stay while exploring the Nong Khai and Udon Thani region.
If you are visiting northeastern Thailand, Pimali is a destination not to be missed. Every meal directly supports the education and future of young trainees while offering guests an exceptional dining experience.
You can choose to dine indoors in air-conditioned comfort or outside with a beautiful and authentic view over the rice paddies. The menu features both Thai and Western cuisine, all freshly prepared with great care by the students under professional supervision. The food is delicious, the presentation is refined, and the service is impeccable.
A visit to Pimali is more than a meal—it is an opportunity to enjoy excellent food while contributing to a meaningful and inspiring social project.

Nong Khai Saturday Night Market
Nong Khai Saturday Night Market
Saturday evening is the highlight of the week in Nong Khai, and the place to be is the Saturday Night Market along Tha Sadet Road, which follows the Mekong River from the heart of the city all the way to the Thai–Lao Friendship Bridge. As dusk falls, the riverside comes alive with lights, music, aromas, and the lively energy that makes Southeast Asian markets so unforgettable.
What makes this market truly special is the incredible variety of food on offer. From steaming bowls of noodles and traditional Thai desserts to grilled seafood, spicy local specialties, and even crispy fried grasshoppers seasoned with chili and lime, there is always something new to discover. Every stall invites you to taste another piece of northeastern Thailand’s rich culinary culture.
Beyond the food, the market is simply a wonderful place to slow down. Find a table, order a cold drink, watch the crowds wander by, and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere as the Mekong flows quietly beside you. Families, friends, musicians, and street vendors all come together to create an authentic and welcoming experience.
In many ways, Southeast Asia is all about its markets. They are places to eat, meet, shop, and experience everyday local life—and Nong Khai’s Saturday Night Market is one of the finest examples, offering visitors a genuine taste of the city’s friendly spirit and vibrant culture.
